Description

Réserves naturelles régionales pour le département de la Haute-Marne et les départements qui lui sont limitrophes.

Les réserves naturelles sont des espaces protégés terrestres ou marins dont le patrimoine naturel est exceptionnel, tant sur le plan de la biodiversité que parfois sur celui de la géodiversité. Qu'elles soient créées par l'État (réserves nationales), par la collectivité territoriale de Corse (réserves de Corse) ou par les régions (réserves régionales, depuis la loi Démocratie de proximité de 2002 qui a donné compétence aux régions pour administrer les ex-réserves volontaires et pour créer de nouvelles réserves régionales), ce sont des espaces qui relèvent prioritairement de la Stratégie de Création d'Aires Protégées mise en place actuellement. Les réserves naturelles bénéficient d'un plan de gestion et se classent essentiellement en catégories III (réserves géologiques) ou IV de l'UICN. Si certaines parties de réserves naturelles (en particulier marines ou forestières) peuvent revendiquer les catégories UICN Ia ou Ib, il n'existait pas à la fin 2009 de réserve naturelle intégrale sur la totalité de sa superficie.
